This Embodied Energy Costa Rica Retreat is a collaboration between two internationally sought-after instructors, Evelyn Magyari Lopez and Alexis Costello. Experts in our respective fields of Zouk dance and Energetic Kinesiology, we realized that our specialties are complementary; different ways of achieving body alignment, of understanding the self, and of expressing your unique energy.
Everyday we will feature an Element of Traditional Chinese Medicine and specific chakras. Alexis will take you through a somatic meditation to activate these centres, teach you about these energy flows, and show you how to muscle test for imbalances. Evelyn & Derrick will demonstrate how these energies manifest in the dance through the techniques of Brazilian Zouk. Working with dance and energetic kinesiology simultaneously allows you to break through your barriers and heal your body/mind/spirit from the inside out.

– 12 hours of Zouk dance training with Evelyn Magyari and Derrick Lopez
More than just learning steps, Evelyn and Derrick teach you how to express yourself through dance. They focus on musicality, creativity, and the emotions behind movement, helping you connect with your body and partner in a way that feels natural and deeply fulfilling.
Their teaching philosophy for the ‘Brazilian Zouk’ dance blends strong technical foundations with intuitive, heart-centered movement. You will learn how to execute movements with precision while also understanding how to surrender to the music and to yourself expressions, creating a dance that feels effortless and authentic.
Evelyn and Derrick create a warm, welcoming space where every dancer, regardless of level, feels encouraged and inspired. They believe in nurturing each student’s unique style, helping them gain confidence, body awareness, and a true love for the art of dance.
– 12 hours of Energetic Kinesiology training, with Alexis Costello learning:
- Basic muscle testing, both with a partner and 3 ways of muscle testing yourself
- How to use your new muscle testing skills to test what foods/supplements (or anything else) are right for you
- Balancing emotional stress
- Connecting to your meridian system and techniques to improve flow and quality of chi
- A series of daily exercises for better balance and clarity, physically, mentally and energetically (good for everyone, but calibrated especially for dancers!
